I see missed matched doors and quarter panels all the time, especially on the omnipresent Astro/Safari family of vans. I love these two examples, they represent both sides of the missed-matched panel dilemma. The Astro Van here being the recipient of a rather flashy new door, aggressively butting up against a non-descript maroon color scheme and belatedly opening up a world of design ideas to it’s owner who at one time thought maroon was actually cool.
This other rig (a Celica?) suffers the unfortunate fate of a totally sweet, yet unmatchable paint scheme. So when the owner had to trudge off and find a new door the junk yard deities did not do him any favors, leaving him no options other than this non-descript silver number. This turn of events has no doubt put many of the local latinas off their feed, forcing them back into their school parking lots trolling for a suitable rig to escort them to Planned Parenthood via the Popeye’s drive thru.
So as you can see friends, choose your rig’s color scheme wisely. You never know when you’ll find yourself having to drag ass to the big junk yard known as Blue Island, Illinois (a town which is neither blue, or an island!) and dig around for a some new sheet metal!
